Issue 2 - September 2025 - Readers' Choice
an ivory palace
rises from the sand
in the land of plenty -
the bones of a great whale
picked clean by scavengers
Nicholas H. Rossler, USA
Thanks to all who sent in votes for the Readers' Choice from issue 1.
There was a very long tail of poems with one or two votes each and I think this reflects the high standard of work in the first issue. However, one tanka emerged as a clear winner of the popular vote.
Congratulations to Nicholas H. Rossler!
I don't know if I followed through clearly. However, I liked what I saw/felt. L1 and L2 produced the impression of imagination at its supreme height. L3 enforced the power of imagination. Then L4 and L5 brought up the last page of Old Man and the Sea, or perhaps the last scene of Zorba the Greek. When disaster strikes, one needs to dream.
